Portal 2 – Interview

After getting to see the first six minutes of Portal 2 gameplay at PAX East, we spoke with Valve’s Erik Wolpaw about his role as writer on Portal 2 as well as what we can expect to see, and if you need to know more about the game, here’s some info before the video…

Portal 2 draws from the award-winning formula of innovative gameplay, story, and music that earned the original Portal over 70 industry accolades and created a cult following.

The single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers. Players will explore never-before-seen areas of the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally murderous computer companion who guided them through the original game.

The game’s two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters. This new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew about portals. Success will require them to not just act cooperatively, but to think cooperatively.

Really can’t wait for this, between this and Diablo III my 2011 is sorted. Co Op sound great fun and really pleased there’s a separate campaign for it.

Microsoft are heading for monumental ball drop by letting Sony get support of Valve.

Oh man! You met the creator of OldManMurray.com!

    Damn you…

Can’t wait for Portal 2. I have so much unquestionable faith in Valve that I refuse to read to much or watch any gameplay trailers. I only ever go in for their excellent marketing vids that they create seperate to the game. I trust Valve so much that I know this is going to be great despite constantly asking myself why it is that I’m still waiting for the rest of EPISODIC Half Life Experience.

Really cool interview though, Erik comes across as lovely as I have dreame….READ…as I have read…

I almost completely forgot this was coming out soon. I knew it was coming out, but I didn’t realise the days were counting down this quickly!
It’s going to be a fantastic experience and I’m torn between getting it for the PS3 and getting the PC version to boot, or getting it for the 360 so I can play the co-op with friends.
Curse you Valve! I can’t give you all my money, as much as I want to!

    Great interview, guys :D

I can’t wait for co op on this. I need to carefully select a co op buddy for it though, my usual wingman tommy has been a little off with lately. Dunno why.

Really interested in this one. I bought the original game only recently in one of the pre-crimbo sales when it was at a crazy price of something like 400msp. Still haven’t got around to playing it which makes me eternally ashamed, however after seeing the PAX demo, it has flown to the top of my list.
