About the author...
I've been playing games since I was five years old and was first given a Game Boy by my parents, who probably didn't realise what they'd done until it was too late. I probably first considered myself a gamer at the age of six when I was given an N64 for Christmas, and because our computers were never built for playing games, I was lucky enough to play some games and genres that I'd have never gotten into if that was the case. Some of my earliest memories are from playing Nintendo and Monkey Island, and so they hold a special place in my heart, which in tribute can only be accessed through a series of three trials and the inventive use of a rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle.

I also have a major obsession with comedy and a slightly lesser obsession with music and films, though considering how few 'classic' films I've seen according to some of the other writers here, you wouldn't think that to be the case. I've been writing since I was about thirteen, and while a lot of it has been various forms of comedy with my best friend Will that'll probably never see the light of day, a good deal of it has probably been about games, too.

I tend to have some pretty strong and strange opinions about a lot of things, and I tend to hope that the ridiculous amount of knowledge I have about videogames will come in important one day. I've also had three series of a radio show about games at my University (seeing a pattern here?), which I won a couple awards for last year and is the reason I write at this site in the first place. I met someone who write at another site at the Eurogamer Expo in 2009 as soon as I started up the show, and from them I started writing for PlusXP.com, who are friends with this site, and so I started writing here too. Since then, I've met some wonderful people and made some amazing friends in the form of the other writers at Gaminglives.com, and generally had a fantastic time. Every now and then I still have to pinch myself and check that I'm awake and not really asleep half-naked in a freezing cold room in the middle of an exam for a test I didn't revise for. Not that I've given it much thought.

When I'm not writing here, I'm either writing on my own blog at http://jokesound.wordpress.com (which also contains the radio shows I've done and focuses less on writing about games) or at www.PlusXP.com.
