3DS Launch Lineup Confirmed, Zelda/Mario AWOL

Nintendo have confirmed their official launch lineup for the incoming 3DS and have tried to go for the ‘something for everyone’ approach.  15 titles are slated for the 25th March release date, with a handful from Ninty themselves and a raft from other publishers including EA, Ubisoft, and Konami.  Taking a closer look at the list, however, reveals some disappointments: of the five releases either from or distributed by Ninty, three are Nintendogs games, and oddly for a launch lineup, there is no Mario or Zelda game in sight.

For those starting to feel a little put off, Nintendo are promising a tasty list of titles that are on the ‘coming soon’ list, though there is no real word on when we can expect them.  Many of the most anticipated games fall into the ‘coming soon’ category, including Mario Kart 3DS, Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing, and Star Fox 64 – the cynical among us are putting money on Christmas for a resurgence of publicity.  The full list appears below:

    Wait, wait, wait.

    THREE Nintendogs?!

…Eh, they know they can get away with it.

  2. Ben Ben says:

Shockingly bad launch line up, makes all those Pre Order offers that boast “free game” a bit redundant.

2 games I wouldn’t mind getting but can’t afford them at release, pilot wings and the sims 3, I wouldn’t mind getting Super Monkey ball 3D and Super street fighter but I’m not big fans of these. I will probably be getting Mario Kart 3D once it’s out and might be tempted to get Zelda when that’s released but I’m not too bothered about.
