Space Invaders
Planet earth in 1978 was a time of innocence and reflection. We’d been aware of the possible existence of aliens for over forty years, and the political paranoia of the time spawned countless movies, novels and even games dealing with a time when our distant cousins would drop by. The general feeling was that they’d come in waves, attacking us with a view to take over the planet, and so Space Invaders summed up how most people felt it would happen. The reality is, of course, that it’s more about oversized rectal thermometers and implanting us to cause havoc at the supermarkets.
