Don't remember what the PS2 controller feels like but I fucking hate the PS3 controller - cheap piece of blow moulded crap, always makes me wonder when they're going to release something other than the dodgy prototype. I love the 360 controller, it has meat. If I could afford the new 360, I'd be all over it... because, as Lee says, it's shiny.

And? Does anyone have the new console yet? I am hearing rumblings that it is not as awesome as I was expecting and unfortunately not an essential purchase, if you already have an Xbox. Am I wrong?

Its super duper quiet, super duper sexy looking, and so far we are both impressed with it. If I can get Ryn off it for more than 2 mins, I will ask to post his opinion of it.
Read about people moaning with the noise, they must have some seriously sensitive hearing, mine is whisper, even on boot up. Can hear the DVD drive slightly when running a game from a disk but install a game and you don't hear anything, at all. Providing you don't play with the mute button on the TV constantly on then you won't hear it over the film or game your watching or playing.
Well worth the upgrade in my opinion, just a shame it took them this long to get it out.
Does get a little hot though, which is my only concern really but I can live with that.

I'm not sure I could live with it... I already sacrifice my ability to hear games without the volume cranked up in exchange for greater piece of mind concerning the hardware's reliability...
I was thinking of waiting until Christmas before upgrading mine. Mostly because of money. But I think it may be a good idea to wait and see if the new hardware has the same kind of failure rate as the older models. For one thing, I know how to repair an older 360 myself, have fixed up a couple before. If the new one went bang on me, I'd be left to the mercy of Microsoft's technical support. Not something I wish to repeat after the last time, which was what prompted me to learn how to repair them in the first place.
