I'm not really a big 360 player but I know most of you lot are so I thought I'd ask the question... What do you think to the new redesigned 360?
Not sure about the glossy black but I quite like the shape.

I've not really looked too much at it's shape, but like all the features it comes with.
Quieter
Smaller
Built in WiFi
Bigger hard drive (internal)
Touch sensitive buttons
3 USB ports on the back (now I won't gave to see the Scene-It sensor plugged in the front)
smaller power supply (existing power supplies are not compatible with new model)
And I like the shiny finish, I liked the shiny finish on the PS3 too.
And all at no extra cost. Well... apart from buying a new console while the current one is still working fine.
You're in my spot.
Oh I forgot the Xbox didn't have touch sensitive buttons. Sony's had them since the PS2 so I don't know why Microsoft didn't include them from the start. I don't believe it'll be much quiter either. They said the elites would be quieter and mine still sounds like a bull being fucked by a jet engine.
I'm not seeing a port for my very expensive official Microsoft memory card. Which I use to store my profile and saves in order to play on different consoles. Which was, again, very expensive. And which I got before MS conveniently switched to USB key access.
I'm underwhelmed. No 360 memory unit compatibility, and the inbuilt wireless is actually worse than I currently have, because I use a 5.0GHz Wireless N access point connected to the LAN port, and this seems to only have standard 2.4GHz Wireless N, which is still prone to interference from microwaves and mobile phones and has less range and isn't as stable as a result. Also the internal harddrive annoys me, because at least the original was easier to switch out and upgrade or replace, even if it was bulkier. This looks like it has been sat on by a fat dude too, and I'm going to have to see one playing Bioshock or something similarly demanding for a couple of hours before I buy into "whisper quiet".
It's a nice idea. Pity about the execution.
Also, after the hardware issues the original 360 had, you'd need to be a fucking lunatic to be a first adopter on this one... fuck knows what's going to go wrong with it.

To be honest, the new one doesn't look much of a chore to remove. Just open a panel and pull it out. Also the internal harddrive annoys me, because at least the original was easier to switch out and upgrade or replace, even if it was bulkier
The hard drive may be internal but apparently still swappable, The shape looks like it is angled to have a slight X shape to it.
I had noticed the lack of memory unit slots on the front. If not on the new model then the only thing I can see to do is put it all on the old hard drive and data transfer everything in one go to the new model's hard drive and then use a usb drive or memory stick to store up to 16gb worth or stuff.
Installing games to the hard drive already makes it quieter and they've changed from two smaller fans to one. They've had years to work out the problems with the console that we have had to experience, I would imagine the new model will be more reliable.
You're in my spot.
it is. There was a clip on Gametrailers after the conference with a guy taking the hard drive out. Literally took 5 seconds to take out.The hard drive may be internal but apparently still swappable
The shape and gloss are slowly growing on me now. I hated it at first but at least it's better than the original xbox's shape.
I'm really not convinced about it being whisper quiet though. Plus it's not the fans that make the most noise, it's the disc drive and I refuse to waste my HDD space by saving all my games on it just because M$ can't be arsed installing quiet disk drives -_-
Won't be buying a new 360 any time soon, already had to buy another one due to hardware failure (out of warranty) which is already one too many.

Let me just clear up what you mean by touch sensitive buttons. Their talking about on the control pad right? For example on a fighting game if you push the punch button harder you'll punch harder and vice versa? I can't believe the 360 didnt already have this. You poor peasants.
