Out of interest though, how many original IP films are coming out?

Well, I counted about 152 films this year, and about 36 of which were remakes, reboots or sequels, so less than four fifths are original. Not sure if that's terrible or not as bad as we feared.
Edit: It works out that about 23% of films are sequels, remakes or whatever.

Fuck me, is that all? I'd say that only 23% of new films coming out this year are remakes/sequels etc was pretty good. Talk about conviently omitting all the facts to make a point.
You just lost some Ste points sucka
That's still nearly one in four though! When I consider that there's over a hundred slightly more original films this year in comparison, it cheers me up a little.
Did a recount, Florida style
At least (because I'm not reading the synopsis of every film with a 2012 release date...today) 39 of 152 films are adaptations, sequels or remakes. (25.65%)
40 of 153 if you count the Muppets (which the site I'm using doesn't because it was released in November in America). (26.1%)
In the original list I also missed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, The Hunger Games, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Dr Seuss's The Lorax, The Avengers and Step Up 4.
Ooh, more minus ste points will mean I get to level up my Anti-Ste ability tree!![]()

Id also point out that Ed only saw rocky recentlyish so his idea of original may not be accurate![]()
Said to my mates yesterday:
"How depressing is it that, probably, in our lifetimes, we'll see a remake of the Lord of the Rings trilogy?"
How old are we all going to feel when that happens. I'm cautious about the Spiderman reboot, and they weren't even good. Eurgh.

It is time for you to go into these worlds alone.
Just got back from the cinema after seeing The Woman In Black. Bloody hell, it's a lot scarier than the play!
Thank you Hammer Horror for making this awesome play into a film finally.
