    Default The PSV Eindhoven thread.

So, my local Gamestation has started littering the place with PS Vita game boxes. Bit disappointing to see the usual suspects - Wipeout, Everybody Golf etc etc - but the machine itself does look good even if it clearly is trying to do too much.

Anyone going to bite? I see a big price drop in its future personally so I'll probably hang on for a while.

I won't be but I agree the price is going to go through the floor like a lead balloon before long. I'd hang on till Easter at at least. Should take a large chunk out of it, especially if the 3DS sales continue to pick up.

I wouldn't. Not for any particular dislike for the product, I just know i've had a PSP, DS and hardly ever use them.

    How much are they?

I might get one, haven't decided yet.

    I like Everybody's Golf.

I had a DS Lite. It was great, until I realised that I didn't like paying £30 for a mobile game and that a lot of them were crap.

Like many other people, I'm not going to sit on my sofa and play portable games, so a portable device gets used while travelling, and while on the bog, and for that the iPhone will do nicely.

I loved my PSP, and used it quite a lot when I was travelling down to see Lorna and it was portable enough that I could use it at her house without dragging a console out (she only had Ninty stuff back then too). I adore the Vita, it has to be said, and when I first held one in my hands at E3 I was in love... if I could have got away with nabbing it then I would have. It was that sexy.

That said... the unit itself is expensive but, more importantly, the games are going to be too expensive for my blood. If I can't afford to buy PC or Xbox games then I'm sure as hell not going to shell out the equivalent (or more, when compared to most PC games) for a handheld game. Sony had me with the hardware, but the game prices have let it down.

Only Game so far are advertising a pre-order incentive, I'm waiting to see who else has offers.

Apple have pretty much redefined the handheld gaming market. I can't see me paying £30 + for a game when I can get them for 59p + for my phone. This will be the last generation of 'handhelds', industry needs to adapt.

I have too many unplayed DS and PSP games to consider even thinking about getting a new handheld...

^^^ This ^^^ While I believe that there is still a place in the industry for proper handheld consoles as opposed to dicking around on phones, I have far too many games on the to play pile to get one at launch, and even then the prices are way too high. I don't give a damn about touch functionality, cloud gaming, or 3D and resent paying the price that these things will invariably add to games.
