What the fuck is New Vegas doing under the strategy category? That is such a massive cock-up I don't even know where to begin. It's not a fucking strategy game at all! If New Vegas wins that over Napoleon or Plants vs. Zombies, I will spend literally the rest of that day in a massive fucking huff.

It's in Strategy because it's a more generalised term for RP, it's easier to sell that way. The Video Game BAFTA's are there to pretty much sell the industry to the rest of the country and promote awareness that it's big enough to warrant having a fairly high profile event to honor that. It would be great if the BAFTAs could be a little more in line with our thinking but we're not there yet The only thing that bites me is that they list the publishers alongside the game rather than the developers -I would much rather see Bungie's name next to Halo than Microsoft Game Studios but Bungie isn't a recognisable brand that far out into the public.

I'd very much like to see Mass Effect sweep that board, particularly for Artistic Achievement. The cinematic quality is something that games have tried to replicate for years but fail to do because they always end up coming short on gameplay, I think ME2 kicked that one right in the teeth.

I'd hope Halo: Reach could take best Multiplayer and Technical Innovation for Forge alone, the breadth of possibilities with that game is nuts and it's a shame that Bungie haven't seen many awards go their way this year. Reach was by far the greatest of the Halo series (imo) and it would be great to see that rewarded.

Be nice to see Alan Wake win both its Music and Audio categories, I'm told it really does sell the experience.

And the public votes going to CODBLOPS whether we like it or not :p

Is like Twilight being nominated for an Oscar.

Edit: Just noticed it's in the Technical Innovation category too, what did it do so impressive?

Surely technical innovation should go for something that was... actually innovative on technical terms? Seems to me that the only one that really qualifies there is Kinectimals. Crap shovelware to give people something to do with the hardware until better games come along or not, at least the Kinect is new and innovative. None of the others are.

I'd like to see Heavy Rain pick up a couple of gongs. Loved the game, fresh and unique.

Reach's Forge and Theatre modes are well worth the nods. Heavy Rain so because of its gesture based control scheme that manages to pull you into what is essentially an interactive movie. AC Multiplayer mode is worthy of its nod, that sort of mutiplayer hasn't been tried beyond Indie game The Ship and bot CODBLOPS and Mario get the nomination because Mario is still selling games 25 years later and CODBLOPS has managed to dupe a lot of stupid people of their money?

You are right, it should really be for more innovative things but in the AAA world of games that people on the street can say they've heard of, thats what we get
