Does anyone have Monster hunter tri or are you all PS3 and Xbox 360 fans? I've never been on multiplayer mode and wouldn't mind giving it a go if anyone's up for it?

I have it, but I don't really do online play on my Wii. The built in wireless isn't up to it, I found, after trying to play Smash Bros. Brawl online a few times.
Sorry to hear thatI'm surprised that your having problems with the wifi as the nintendo wifi is pretty good compared to the Xbox 360 S wifi which had a problem with dropping the connection every now and then until MS released a update, have you tried the USB lan adapter?
Nope, can't justify the cost when I have maybe 3 Wii games that I might want to play online. As for the XBox, I don't use the built in wireless, my home network runs 5.0GHz Wireless N, which isn't compatible with the crappy 2.4GHz the XBox has. I use a wireless extender off the LAN port.
I have Monster Hunter for the PS2 and was tempted to get Tri, but then I remembered that I never really finished or even actually started the PS2 game. Is it any good?
It is a good game, yes. One of the better looking ones on the Wii, and solid gameplay if you're a fan of the series.
It's a good game if you like any of the previous titles, I had 1 of the monster hunters on PSP before I got rid of the thing so was very happy when they released tri on the wii. Unfortunately I wasn't very good on the PSP version and I'm not very good on the wii version either.
