Sims Goes Medieval

Welcome to Castle Pointy, invaders, please use the service entrance

Not content with infiltrating your consoles this Autumn, the Sims are back and this time, they’re going medieval on your arse; the Sims Medieval plunges your Sims back into the Middle Ages in a newly announced title to be hitting shops next year.  In a similar vein to Sims Castaway, Sims Medieval is a branch from the wildly popular time-sink series in which the player tackles a more ‘story and goal’ oriented game, albeit with the customisation, management, and choices that fans of the franchise have come to expect.

According to EA:”The Sims Medieval offers players a chance to build up a medieval kingdom, controlling characters from all walks of life, from Kings and Queens, to Knights and Wizards, Blacksmiths and Bards.”

Through quest based gameplay, the player’s choices will determine the fate of the kingdom, whether they want to build from within or deliver a Trojan Rabbit full of whoop-arse to their neighbours before requisitioning their land.  The player can opt to pursue fortune and glory or pander to their people, putting them first, if they are feeling especially generous.

“It provides a host of storytelling possibilities in the form of quests, from crafting a legendary sword to arranging a royal wedding, to protecting the kingdom from an evil sorcerer, to finding the fountain of youth. Every quest plays out differently depending on which Hero Sim the player is controlling.”

With quests a-plenty and a host of medieval goodies to pimp out your pointy castle such as swords, thrones, and cans of plague (okay, not that), EA are pushing how much the players can customise this new playground, even including the option to alter the characters and world itself.  With an already packed Autumn and Winter schedule, it is just as well that Sims Medieval won’t be waving a dainty hanky from atop a tower to gain our attention until next Spring.  When it does arrive, we know what our choices will be…to hell with the welfare of our villagers…fortune and glory kid, fortune and glory.
