Kid Icarus Is Back!

“Sorry to keep you waiting.”  After last night’s announcement, long time Kid Icarus fans won’t care, they’ll be too busy celebrating, because Pit is back.  At Nintendo’s E3 conference yesterday (read more about it from Ed) the mysterious Project Sora was finally announced to be none other than a new Kid Icarus game for the 3DS.  Titled Kid Icarus: Uprising, the game was designed specifically for the Nintendo 3DS by Kirby and Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai and his development team and looks little short of impressive from the tantalising showing.

The extended video showed off the 3DS in fine form, with graphics which raised more than a few eyebrows, the game looking almost on par with a GameCube offering.  Kid Icarus: Uprising features fast paced, aerial and ground based combat over and against sprawling, often beautiful, landscapes with Pitt’s sword and, of course, bow being the familiar weapons of choice.

The movement, especially in the air appears graceful and smooth, with the fast action and elegant looking gameplay promising great things when it gets its released next year.  It’s been a long time since the NES days and all we can say is: “It’s about bloody time…”
