Wargaming.net Sponsors 10th Annual Tankfest

Tanks. That is all.

Big, life-crushing machinery, designed to send enemies screaming for safety… no, this isn’t the start of a mother in law joke… we’re talking tanks.  Big tanks.  Who doesn’t love big tanks?  Okay, get out.  Now for the rest.  As people may or may not be aware, the annual Tankfest event, celebrating British military history with, you guessed it, lashings of tanks, is fast approaching.  This year is a little more special, however, as Tankfest is celebrating its tenth birthday.  Held at the impressive Bovington Tank Museum, from 30th June – 1st July, Tankfest will show off a wide range of historic and modern moving armour displays, living history, and mock battle demonstrations.  Not just for the hardcore, the show welcomes casual drop-ins and there will be family entertainment on offer.

While most gamers usually only see tanks on their TV screens, it won’t just be real life on display this year: the event is being sponsored, once again, by Wargaming.net, developer and publisher of the wildly successful World of Tanks – an online action MMO bristling with over 150 historically accurate armoured vehicles from around the world and epic tank battles, in which team work is the key to success.  Of course, Wargaming.net will be on hand to show off their game, allowing visitors to get stuck in and get a taste for battle, sampling the advantages and disadvantages of the various vehicles and generally kicking arse.

“This will be the second time World of Tanks is participating to this event.  Last year’s show was truly amazing – not just for the amount of people that came to our booth, but for the variety of community players from all around Europe who came to spend time with us,” said Wargaming.net CEO Victor Kislyi. “And with over 10,000 people watching thrilling World War II tank-on-tank battles, the Tankfest is the best place to start your tank experience. It will be great to have a chat with our fans at this truly special event.”

So, if you want to get a real-life glimpse at the vast vehicles that are usually decimating your units in your game of choice, or you fancy getting hands-on with World of Tanks in what seems like the ideal atmosphere head down to the Bovington Tank Museum from 30th June – 1st July.
