Omerta – City Of Gangsters Announced

In a move that will make the mob-minded and strategy crowd happier than if they’d found a horse’s head in their beds, Kalypso Media have just announced their latest title, Omerta – City of Gangsters.  The title, set in 1920s Atlantic City, promises strategy based action as the player steps into the shoes of a fresh faced newcomer and becomes immersed in organised crime, struggling to make a name for himself and build a criminal empire to rival and dominate all others.

Omerta will combine tactical gameplay and combat as the player goes head to head with not only the police, but rival organisations, and the player will be able to manage their business and gang members in real time, sending them on missions ranging from raids, assassinations, and prison breaks, to taking out rival gangs and turning over a few banks for some spending money.

Features include:

  • Historically accurate representation of Atlantic City and its landmarks
  • Strategic gameplay allows city overview, planning, expansion and gathering of intel
  • Turn-based tactical combat with a cover system and stealth action
  • 15 unique player controlled characters each with a unique personalities and backgrounds
  • An RPG system for development of player characters and managing their gear
  • Competitive and cooperative multiplayer mode with persistent multiplayer gang
  • 15+ hours of gameplay in a single play-through
  • 20 unique maps visualizing the various districts of Atlantic City

It sounds like not a far cry (in our humble opinion) from Gangsters: Organised Crime, the 1998 release from Eidos – if so, expect tough gameplay!  Expect a Q4 release date.
