Bully Sequel Finally On the Way?

Well, it’s about frigging time were the first words out of the mouths of a few Bully lovers here at GL this week, when the whispers began circulating of a sequel to Rockstar’s answer to Skool Daze: Bully – or Canis Canem Edit, as it was known in some parts.  Speaking in an interview with industry site Gamasutra, Dan Houser, Co-Founder and VP of Creative at Rockstar casually mentioned a follow up to the hit game while discussing the long awaited return of Max Payne.

“Contrary to a lot of people, we like to take a little bit of time at the end of a game before starting a sequel, so we can wait for the excitement or disappointment and everything else of the experience to shake down and really see what we should do in the next game.  So we knew that we didn’t want to start doing the Bully sequel instantly at that second with those guys — even though it is a property that, like Max, we adore and might come back to in the future. There was just no impetus to do that then.  So we said, ‘You can do Max, and then we will see what we can do with Bully’.  So it was really waiting for the slot to open up and the group to open up to at least start work on it.”

Many of us here at GL have some fond memories of tearing around Bullworth on a skateboard, stuffing people into bins, romancing the ladies (and the gents – take that homophobic Xbox squirts – got to love Rockstar’s sense of humour) and causing mayhem, so we hope that this one will be getting its time in the sun soon.
