BlizzCon 2011 Virtual Tickets On Sale

As per usual, BlizzCon may have sold out with lightning speed, but there is still hope for those who lost out, or who couldn’t afford to fly over to the USA for the extravaganza because Blizzard are once again offering virtual tickets.  The two day fest, celebrating their famous franchises such as World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo, will be taking place later this week from 21st – 22nd October, and will feature a wealth of activities, from competitions, dance contests, developer panels and, of course, the grand end-of-show concert.  In the past, the concert has been headlined by Ozzy and Tenacious D, and will this year be featuring the Foo Fighters.

“Every BlizzCon, we look forward to meeting up with our players and sharing the latest news about our games with the world,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We’ve put together a great lineup of events this year, capped off with an awesome Foo Fighters show, and we can’t wait to provide attendees and everyone joining us from home with an unforgettable weekend.”

So, anyone currently sobbing into their flagon of mead need not despair… you can still oogle the elven cosplayers from the comfort of your own home, without risking life or limb with airline food or dealing with lost or confiscated replica weaponry.  BlizzCon 2011 Virtual Tickets are on sale for £24.99 and allow you to experience the visual pizazz through a live, hi-def video stream.  Four streaming channels will be provided, giving access to the panels, eSports tourneys, and more and replays will be available to be accessed for up to a fortnight after the dust has settled.

Virtual tickets can be purchased here and for more info, check out the FAQ.

As an extra incentive, if you purchase the virtual ticket, you will receive the BlizzCon 2011 exclusive WoW and Starcraft II items (which have yet to be announced at this time, however, last year’s was an exclusive pet for WoW, so expect the offerings to be tasty).
