J.U.L.I.A Picked Up By LMG

We covered J.U.L.I.A briefly in our GL Adventure Roundup earlier this year, but since then news has been sparse on this indie sci-fi adventure.  Until now that is, because Lace Mamba have just announced that they are taking up the publishing mantle and the game is now on course for an early 2012 release.

J.U.L.I.A is developed by CBE, a Czech studio, and is set in 2430.  It drops the player into the space shoes of Rachel Manners, an astrobiologist, who is sent off to explore space and discover strange new life forms (sans Enterprise) as part of an elite team of science boffins.  Of course, nothing ever goes according to plan and Rachel finds herself waking from cryosleep with mushy memories to find her team missing.  Not only that, but their ship is orbiting a strange planet and has been badly damaged.  We’d blame space vandals, personally.  Still, Rachel has to repair the ship, piece together the events prior to her waking up, and then crack on and explore strange new worlds, with only two companions – the ship’s AI, J.U.L.I.A and a robot called Mobot (yep) – to help.  Us?  We’d be throwing a sickie at that point and buggering off home – no one who wakes up alone from a cryosleep is in for anything pleasant.

The screens are looking pretty tasty so far, and after a delay, it will be interesting indeed to see how J.U.L.I.A turns out.
