L.A. Noire Causing Console Freezing

Gaming behemoth Rockstar has seen its latest title LA Noire cause a bit of a stir, but sadly for the wrong reasons. Since its launch this week within North America there have been growing reports that the crime thriller has been causing both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles to freeze and lock up during play.

So far no patch has been forthcoming, but one can only presume that Rockstar are feverishly coding away to insure the problem is nipped in the bud as quickly as possible. For users who are experiencing the game freezing, a work around has been posted up on Rockstar’s support website, which you can find here.

LA Noire is due to be released within the UK and the rest of Europe tomorrow (20th May), you can read our preview here.

Can’t be affecting the slim 360s then, I spent all of last night playing with no problems at all.

I played through New Vegas without all the hassle that so many were reporting and the same goes for Two Worlds II. In fact, even as far back as Oblivion when I was having problems there were so many that weren’t and that was before there was even an Xbox Elite option on the market. I put it down to luck – it either will or it won’t. Knowing my luck, and considering I’ll be playing to something of a deadline, I’ll end up with a myriad of problems just to aggravate the situation!

I call bull on this. the game would have to be accessing the disc so much and loading and dumping so much data into the RAM that MS would have picked up on it and given it a fail at certification. Also there’s no way the average dev tester console would have survived long if this was the case. I’ve worked in QA and you do not get nice new consoles for testing. Al lot of them are refurbed former retail consoles too so they’ve been through the ringer already.
