Arkham City Comic Mini-Series Announced

That'll give you groin strain

The worlds of comics and gaming have never been far apart and we are seeing an increasing number of comics and graphic novels released to expand upon or compliment the worlds and characters from a number of games.  Hot on the heels of the Dead Space graphic novel comes a six issue Batman mini-series which focuses on bridging the gap between the wildly successful Batman: Arkham Asylum and the upcoming Batman: Arkham City.

The short series is penned by none other than Paul Dini, writer of Batman: The Animated series and drawn by Carlos D’anda, the concept artist behind the two games.  The story picks up a year after the events of the original game as newly elected Gotham mayor decides to shut down the asylum.  Not smart.  As an alternative, he cuts a chunk out of Gotham City itself, slaps up some walls and barbed wire (and presumably an ‘all trespassers will be horribly mutilated with acid’ sign) and leaves the feral thugs, crims, and insane geniuses to prowl the sealed off streets.  Sounds rather like Paisley on a Friday night to us.

The issues will retail at a tiny $2.99 and will apparently alternate with a number of eight page digital-first interludes, which themselves retail at $0.99.  Expect to see the whole lot released later on as one sexy limited edition for those of us who like our goodies in one place.  First issues will be landing in May.

This gets me so excited you have no idea.

I’ll wait for the trade paperback with all of the issues collected into one book, but this is nearly as much of a must-buy as the game is.
