Playlogic Rises From the Ashes

It seems that troubled publisher, Playlogic has risen from the ashes of only months after its bankruptcy was announced in the summer.  The publisher had struggled for some time, with late payments from distributors and others, along with poor cash flow, damaging them to the point where they couldn’t keep their heads above water.  However, a subsidiary, in the shape of Playlogic International NV remained operational and managed to release Fairytale Fights in Asia as an episodic, downloadable title, which helped to buoy its fortunes somewhat.

Keen to continue is this vein, the publisher has reportedly reinvented itself as a ‘digital publisher’ who will be focusing on not only online games, but titles for the mobile and tablet market.  In a still uncertain financial climate, it is good to see a publisher pulling itself back up and fighting back – rather in the spirit of its best known, blood soaked title.  Fairytale Fights was a good, albeit flawed, game but was ultimately enjoyable and boasted a great concept.  Xbox360 gamers never got to see the long awaited free DLC that the PS3 folk did, but whether this phoenix move will change that or otherwise give rise to a sequel to this quirky, established title, remains to be seen.
