Borderlands Level Cap Finally Raised

Finally, and not before time, the Borderlands level cap has been blown off and reset.  While the raising of the cap was expected to arrive with the most recent DLC, players were left somewhat mystified when all their precious XP was going for nowt.  Thankfully, the patch is now here and brings with it a host of other tweaks which include the following:

  • Level cap hike of 8 levels for all players, allowing for a total of 58.
  • Players who have ‘The Secret Armory of General Knoxx’ DLC have got a larger cap raise, bringing them to the magical number, 69.
  • Players who have completed playthrough 2 will see enemies scale to the new levels up to the new cap. That means that if you’ve completed everything, you can play through the game again ad nauseum at a more challenging level in order to find even more eye-popping, pocket bulging loot.
  • Item drops (with the exception of COM Decks) will also scale with higher level enemies to the new cap, which means some high level weapons will be out there waiting to be found.
  • Other fixes, including DLC4 Achievement/Trophy glitches that have affected some users and will be corrected to properly award players for obtaining these achievements, no matter which order they were completed in.

So, if anyone has been holding off tackling the Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution, now is the time to get stuck back in, especially since the more infuriating glitched achievements have now been fixed.  However, one point to note would be that if you have been hammering the new DLC prior to the patch coming out, all of your accrued XP which has, until now, gone nowhere, will suddenly be counted with the advent of the new patch, meaning that some folk will automatically level up as soon as they get stuck back in.

Anyway, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to slay Crawmy for the millionth time and finally pop that ‘What A Party’ achievement.  Panties and Pizza, the perfect way to end a hard day.

I couldn’t be MORE happy if Moxxi burst into the room right now and told me I’d been a very bad boy!! I’ve been waiting for this and although I’m really looking forward to booting it up and hearing the “triple plink” of those last three achievements FINALLY unlocking… I’ll be gutted if I’m immediately moved up to level 69 with no effort whatsoever. Sure, I’ve already made the kills and therefore earned the XP… but I’d rather level up one at a time all over again than BAM… you’ve gone from level 61 to 69 in a heartbeat.

I know what I’LL be doing tonight!!

I held off on playing through the last DLC when I noticed mt XP was being earned. I saved it with the requirements for the first mission being achieved but not turning it in. Tried it last night after updating and earned the XP. Only problem now is I’m playing Fallout, I need time off to play… that’s what next week is for.

I am now level 63, and have completed the main game plus all DLCs to 100%… my last three achievements popped as soon as I loaded the game. I’m a happy camper… and level 66 Crawmerax was fun :D
