Creative Assembly And Games Workshop Team Up For Warhammer Game

This morning Total War developer Creative Assembly and SEGA announced a new partnership with Games Workshop, creators and distributors of the Warhammer IP. Creative Assembly will begin work on a new Warhammer fantasy battle game, in conjunction with its other projects, like Rome Total War 2.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Creative Assembly and the partnership of two great British companies seems to be a great way to celebrate. Creative Assembly’s Studio Director, Tim Heaton explained, “With this year being our 25th anniversary. It seems fitting for us to embark on such a dream project with such a well-established partner. The incredibly rich and detailed Warhammer world is something we grew up with, and has left an indelible imprint on us as both designers and gamers.”

Games Workshop have been producing Warhammer fantasy games for a while, with titles like Shadow of the Horned Rat back in 1995 and Mark of Chaos from Namco Bandi in 2006, but nothing on the scale of what we can expect from a Creative Assembly game. We here at GLHQ are hoping for a Warhammer Total War as soon as possible, but we’ll have to hold onto our mighty weaponry until sometime after 2013.
