Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise Gameplay Trailer

If you’ve taken the time to either read our E3 preview of Panic In Paradise, or the interview with Creative Director, Ashley Pannell, you’ll know that the follow-up to the heavily-criticised Naughty Bear is more than just a sequel.  If bears really do shit in the woods then this particular bear is more than likely lying in wait with a machete to deal with whichever of his peers are taking care of business, except that this time he’s doing it as a digital-only title.  While the gameplay trailer doesn’t show everything that we got to see at E3 – such as the myriad of new locations and the varied gameplay style, or even the all-new in-game store where you can buy performance-enhancing gear… no, not Viagra, we mean weapon and outfit upgrades – it does highlight some of the new costumes and weapons.  It’s just a shame there’s no sign of the Feeling Axe.

Cited in our preview as turning the original Naughty Bear criticisms on their head with this release, by shoe-horning a full-size retail game into an XBLA title rather than the other way around, Panic In Paradise caught our eye enough to pick up our Just Play It award.  Yeah, it’s more of the same, but it’s done on a much grander and more polished scale this time around… if Naughty Bear was Robin Williams, the first would have been Mork & Mindy while Panic in Paradise could easily be its Dead Poets Society.
