Assassin’s Creed III Liberation Exclusive To PS Vita

Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed III Liberation will be hitting the PS Vita, exclusively, on 30th October this year, promising to bring the ‘full Assassin’s Creed experience’ to handhelds.  In the past, the series has made stabs (pardon the pun) at the handheld market, with Altair’s Chronicles for the DS and Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines for the PSP, but this will be a different, sexier beast entirely – not least because for the first time in the series, we get to play as a female assassin, Aveline, who is fighting for freedom in 18th century New Orleans.  Against the backdrop of a city on the brink of rebellion against the Spanish, Aveline’s story will be a deep one, full of combat, love, and the free-roaming that has made the series such a hit to date.

Liberation will also include Vita specific controls, making use of the handheld’s various features, such as the front and rear touch screens, gyroscope and camera.   If that wasn’t enough, not only will players have the chance to become immersed in Aveline’s story in the single player campaign, but Liberation is promised to include a ‘unique multiplayer experience’ (aren’t they all, Ed.) exclusively tailored for the Vita.

If handhelds really aren’t your thing, but you are a series die-hard, then it may well just be worth shelling out for, especially if goodies are up your particular street, as fans who purchase both the PS3 and PS Vita versions will snag some exclusive content, such as an in-game version of Connor’s tomahawk, an exclusive character skin, multiplayer character, and an upgrade of all ammo pouches.  Looks like the Autumn/Winter schedules just got busier.

I may get both but it’ll be a XBox/Vita collaboration so unless the extra stuff is via Uplay, I’d have to go without.
