GameStop Stores Begin To Close
by GL News
Bad news for those who favour bricks and mortar over online retail, as GameStop have begun closing their Northern Ireland retail stores as part of their grand plan to get off the high streets and focus their energies on their GameStop.co.uk online business. Speaking to MCV, Michael Finucane, GameStop Group’s commercial director, confirmed that the recent closures are part of the grand plan:
“The recent store closures in Northern Ireland are part of our plan, announced six months ago, to exit the UK market from a brick and mortar perspective. We started this process last year closing our Birmingham, Stockport and Belfast locations.” He went on to add that stores in the Republic of Ireland were not affected for the time being.
GameStop have, however, promised to honour all outstanding deposits and gift cards via their online home.
