New Assassin’s Creed Title Confirmed For 2012

On the back of the Alan Wake XBLA news which surprised no one who had read the all-too-believable rumours and leaks a few months back, comes the ultimate shock horror revelation:  2012 will herald yet another Assassin’s Creed title.  Who’d have thunk it?  Everyone?  Oh, okay then.  Ubisoft’s money spinning franchise continues to go from strength to strength, and with the pending release of Assassin’s Creed Revelations, comes an announcement from Ubi themselves about the news most gamers took as a given anyway.

According to the chaps over at Gamasutra, Ubi CEO, Yves Guillemot made the announcement at the end of a conference call accompanying Ubi’s recent earnings report.  While no further details were given, speculation will no doubt ramp up about the setting for the, as yet, untitled game.  With Revelations being the last in the Ezio saga, we can expect a new protagonist and a shift to a new time period, although whether it will still feature Desmond and be tied into the existing Altair lineage is anyone’s guess.  Still, we look forward to finding out.
