Game ‘No Longer Stocking’ Two Worlds II

It seems that more misery is about to be heaped on beleaguered Two Worlds fans with major high-street retailer, Game now stating on their Twitter feed to anxious customers that they ‘won’t be stocking it’.  The game, released in Europe late last year, was due for a January release, but has repeatedly been pushed back, leaving gamers angry and frustrated to the point that some are simply washing their hands of it and saving their cash towards Dragon Age 2.  Thankfully we imported our copy from Germany – clicky for review – but we’ve been eyeing the release woes with increasing alarm.

In addition to the base game, Game were to be stocking the two impressive collector’s editions of the Two Worlds 2, but all versions recently vanished from their website without warning after the latest rumours that the date had been shoved back again until mid March – a week after the schedule slaughtering sequel to Dragon Age launches.  Not smart.  While no one at this time has any idea why Game appear to have given up the ghost, we tracked down this confirmation on their Twitter feed:

Our very own Preacher is proof of this.
It’s almost sometimes like they don’t want us to buy their games…

It’s an odd move, to say the least, but I suppose I can see why they’ve taken that stance – to stop people from wasting staff time by repeatedly asking “When is it coming out?” but, as a result, they’ll likely be inundated by people asking why they cancelled it. Frying pan, meet fire.

I wanted my Royal Edition PC version to be the English language packaging but it looks like I’ll just have to import it after all. I reckon I’m about nine hours away from completion of the XBox version but I really want to play through it again with higher quality graphics and textures.

I was all ready to import this last month but with it only being a few weeks away (at the time) I thought I’d wait for it to crop up on Steam here in the UK.

Still insists on breaking my heart though, if Game aren’t stocking it then it’s likely that Gamestation aren’t either as the two seem to be operating in Cohorts now that they’re more forward that they own Gamestation.

Looks pretty grim, sad that they don’t let the customers decide these things really

Well that’s the end of that. My cancelling my Royal Edition preorder turns out to have been little more than a symbolic formality.

Amazon are going to be the sole UK stockists of this game apparently, and they’re still taking orders for Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC/Mac versions. They even have the Royal Edition with a hand-painted figurine, playing cards, hardcover artbook, mousepad, soundtrack disc, double-sided Antaloor map poster and 4 exclusive in-game items.
