Third Call of Juarez Game For Summer ’11
by GL News
Well, it seems that the Deadwood stage is, once again, comin’ on over the hill as Ubisoft announce the threequel to their Call of Juarez franchise. Currently in development by Techland, the third game is set for a summer release and is entitled Call of Juarez: The Cartel. For a moment, we imagined it being relocated to Colombia and packed full of Mr Del Monte hats, however, what is more surprising is that it is set in the present day. Yep. And odd choice perhaps, especially since last year’s Red Dead Redemption gave gamers a taste for the ‘Old West’ once more, but Ubi are promising an ‘action packed shooter game with a strong story’.
“The game will bring the best elements of the Wild West into modern times with a very gritty and relevant plot.” Assures Ubisoft’s EMEA Brand Director, Caroline Stevens. We should think so after our Colombian-in-a-Panama-hat idea was squashed. Given that Texas has more to do with shoulder pads and high-rises than cattle rustling and Shane-like loners these days, it will be interesting to see how this one pans out.
