Bracken Tor Teaser Trailer Released

Yeah, we'd be running about now too...

You can tell the calendar is creeping ever closer to All Hallows Eve when the horror adventures start to make their presence known and, in this spirit (couldn’t resist), Iceberg Interactive have today released a teaser trailer for their eagerly anticipated horror adventure game, Bracken Tor.

Developed by Cornwall based, indie developers, Shadow Tor Studios, Bracken Tor is a point ‘n’ click thriller which is promising to deliver a chilling and complex adventure.  Drawing from local mythology, the game delves into the notion of mysterious beasts and dark terrors stalking the moors.  The player steps into the shoes of an intrepid journalist, determined to find the next big story on the moors after the mutilated body of a hitchhiker is found and foolishly decides to spend the night there.

The game will be stalking into shops on 19th November, but if you can’t wait until then for more info, head over to www.brackentor.com and satiate yourself with the suitably spooky screenshots and info.  For now though, here is the Blair-Witchy style teaser which hints at the thing being a creature feature, rather than a ghostly/undead supernatural sort of title, though with mention of curses and primitive people who once dwelt on the moors, we’ll see.  Even if it is only between our fingers in a brightly lit room.

Awesome! Can’t wait! I love Jonathan Boakes and Matt Clark’s games!

I never thought I’d see the day a game made by a Cornish developer would find retail release. Been watching this with some curiosity since Tania mentioned it on our forums.

Last couple of years have been a good time to be into point and clicks, after a long time with no really interesting ones around at all.

This isn’t their first Cornish game Samuel! They are also responsible for “Dark Fall” 1-3, “Barrow Hill” and “The Lost Crown”. J.B also had a part in “Scratches” and they promote “Rhiannon” on their site as well. Both good games too. I’d reccomend all of them to any point and click fan. “The Lost Crown” in particular is set in the Cornish town of Looe, and “Barrow hill” is set in Cornwall too. Jonathan is currently working with Matt on “Bracken Tor”, then it’s back to making “The Last Crown” which is the sequal to “The Lost Crown”.

Sorry, I meant Polperro (as the main town in the game) not Looe!

That is very cool, thanks Tania. I’ve been to Polperro so it’d be great to see how they recreated it for the game.

No problem, happy to share! I’ve seen loads of making-of pics and vids for “The Lost Crown” and seen the real life locations compared to the in-game ones, and I was like: “WOW! That’s so cool!” :D
If you’re interested, you can download the game from the Shadow Tor website for a really reasonable price. You also get the soundtrack and some making-of stuff with it. :)
