Richard Bartle, co-creator of the original MUD (Multi User Dungeon) is to receive the first ever Online Game Legend Award at the Game Developers Choice Online Awards in October. Taking place in Austin, Texas, the awards recognise ‘landmark titles and deeply influential figures in the vibrant online gaming world.’ and were picked after nominations from both the industry and online gaming community. Not only is Bartle to receive the first ever Online Game Legend Award, but Ultima Online is to be honoured with the first ever Hall of Fame award for online games. Good stuff and a long time coming.
