SEGA Launch Sonic Birthday Contest

With Sonic the Hedgehog about to turn a princely 19, Sega have planned a stunning contest to celebrate, wherein two lucky winners (one from the USA and one from the UK) will each receive a trip for two to Tokyo to visit SEGA Japan and meeting the Sonic development team.  Excuse us while we try to stop reeling a moment here at GLHQ as that is a hell of a prize.

“In honor of the nineteenth anniversary of our favorite hedgehog, we wanted to find a special way to thank Sonic’s fans throughout the years,” said Haruki Satomi, Executive Vice President of SEGA of America. “We think this contest is a great way to give fans a chance to express their creativity, enthusiasm and support for Sonic.”

So if you want to be hopping on a plane to Tokyo for Sonic HQ, what do you have to do?  Over the course of the next fortnight, contestants should create and upload their videos ‘showing their appreciation and love for Sonic the Hedgehog’ to YouTube and then submit them for judging in the official Sonic 4 Contest page.

According to SEGA, the videos will be judged not only on creativity, but on entertainment and effort, so you don’t have to be Spielberg or Smith to be in with a chance of winning.  The ten best will be chosen by SEGA and showcased on the official Sonic 4 website – www.sonicthehedgehog4.com/contest where the entire SEGA and Sonic community will choose their top pick to win….so no pressure then
