Farmville and Facebook to split?

EDGE is reporting that Zynga, the developers behind games such as Farmville could be set to walk away from Facebook in favour of it’s own social gaming platform in a row over the introduction of Facebook’s new credit system.

The virtual currency system will allow users to purchase virtual goods across a variety of games, in similar fashion to MS Points.

However while on paper it may sound like a fairly decent idea, Facebook stands to take 30% from every Facebook credit transaction, a sticking point that is likely to enrage many developers.

Things aren’t looking too rosy for Facebook and its gaming scene right now, as within the last month alone many of the top games have lost millions of players in Facebook’s controversial disabling of third party notifications.

Facebook credits is currently in its final testing phase and is due for release sometime next month.
